Position Overview

Were looking for a confident, people-focused Accounting Team Lead (CPA) to join our accounting operations and take ownership of a small yet high-performing team of Staff Accountants and Associates.

Youll be responsible for ensuring weekly team goals are met, managing a portfolio of our largest clients, and helping your team navigate both technical challenges and team growth. Whether youre coaching on reconciliations, rolling out a new process, or stepping in to handle a sensitive client situationyoure ready to lead from the front.

This is a new role built for a strong full-cycle CPA who owns outcomes, has accounting excellence, and has an instinct for process efficiency. Success is measured by operational efficiency, exceptional client service, and leading sustained team performance.

What Youll Do

Lead the Team: Supervise, support, and motivate a team of staff associatesensuring objectives are clear, progress is tracked, and work gets done on time and to standard.
Own Large and Complex Accounts: Manage a portfolio of advanced and large clients directly, handling intricate accounting issues, escalations, and cleanups with confidence.
Deliver Exceptional Customer Service: Manage communications with empathy and care, meet regularly with high-value clients, and respond promptly to all client inquiries.
Mentor & Develop Talent: Train, coach, and mentor junior and mid-level team members. Help them grow their technical skills, client communication, and judgment.
Drive Weekly Success: Monitor team capacity, progress, and bottlenecks. Adjust assignments as needed to hit weekly deliverables and keep client work flowing smoothly.
Quality Control & Review: Oversee file accuracy, bookkeeping standards, and workflow compliance. Provide hands-on reviews and feedback where needed.
Process Improvement: Report to the Client Financial Controller to streamline systems, improve tools, and evolve our accounting processes for better efficiency and scale.
Performance Management: Conduct regular check-ins, give timely feedback, and support employee development. Participate in hiring, onboarding, andwhen necessaryperformance corrections or terminations.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Client Financial Controller and other Team Leads in accounting operations to align efforts, share insights, and make informed decisions that impact the broader company.
Champion the Culture: Promote Agiles ethos of curiosity, ownership, communication, and empathyboth with your team and with clients.

Who You Are

CPA Designated-Leader: Youve earned your CPA and consistently perform at that standard. You see your designation not as a title, but as a responsibility to elevate the team, sharpen technical rigor, and build a culture where excellence is the baseline. You dont keep expertise to yourself; you scale it through mentorship, coaching, and example.
Manager-Level: Youre comfortable leading a team and owning client relationships. Youve been accountable for both the quality of the work and the experience of the client setting direction internally while ensuring clients feel confident, cared for, and well-advised.
Tech-Savvy: Youre comfortable with QuickBooks, Dext, Google Sheets, and Excel, and you love diving into new tools and software to make processes better.
Excel/Google Sheets Architect: You operate at an advanced level building automated models, leveraging complex functions, and designing workflows that eliminate friction. You look at repetitive work and immediately think, This can be automated. Script-writing and system-building experience is a strong plus.
Reporting Expert: You have deep experience in designing reports that support management decision making and can quickly and confidently create repeatable reporting templates to meet specific information needs.
Proactive-Learner: Youre curious, you ask questions, and youre not afraid to share ideas. You adapt quickly and enjoy staying ahead of the curve.
Detail-Oriented: Youve got an eagle eye for catching mistakes and resolving them before they turn into problems.
