Backend Developer

Software Development

We are looking for a Backend Developer to create the data and server infrastructure for our online platform. You will play a critical role in making this platform come to life. It will be an open-source app which is the central point of all Curiosity Clubs. It is where we will accept applications, Guides will manage their clubs, Learners can share updates on projects, and more. It is a pivotal step forward in ensuring scalability and quality of our programs. We are currently using Supabase and Node.js as our backend.

Responsibilities

Work with the Frontend Developer to understand the data the need to request and how they need to receive it.
Set up the API endpoints and ensure their security.
Set up hosting on a VPS or AWS. Cheaper the better.

You can dedicated 5 hours a week to help bring this vision into reality.

At Curiosity Learning, we're on a mission to change the way the world thinks about the education system. We believe that lifelong learning is essential, but the traditional education system isn't doing enough to create curious, engaged learners. We're here to shake things up.

Our story began with a high school student who, like so many others, became disenchanted with the traditional education system. They knew that there had to be a better way to learn, and he started the first Curiosity Club, a space within their school where learners can learn anything they are curious about through collaborative projects. Today, we're supporting high school students across the Netherlands in starting and running their own Curiosity Clubs, and we're looking for talented and passionate individuals to join our team.
