Assemble and install elevators, escalators, moving walkways and dumbwaitersInspect wiring connections, control panel hookups, door installations and alignments and clearances of cars and hoistwaysRead blueprints to determine work requirements Repair and maintain elevators, escalators, moving walkways and related equipmentInstall and wire electric and electronic control system devicesInstruct apprenticesInstall, test and adjust safety control devicesTest operation of newly installed equipmentDisassemble defective units and repair or replace suspect partsAdjust valves, ratchets, seals, brake linings and other componentsCarry out preventative maintenance programs to ensure public safetyTroubleshoot electrical or mechanical systems failuresMaintain log books that detail all repairs and checks performed
