Our client in Kitchener is looking for an Electrical Applications Engineer to join their team in a full-time permanent role!

Required Skills:

Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics with a focus on electrical systems
3-5 years of experience and strong knowledge of electric motor controllers, electric motors, and applications
Experience in a customer-focussed, technical support or electrical application engineering role
Experience or passionate interest in electrical vehicle powertrain design and integration would be an asset
Good understanding of the functional safety of electric motors and the ability to troubleshoot electrical system failure
Experience working with business customers to gather specifications and provide solutions for their product development
Hands-on experience with wiring, installing and troubleshooting electric vehicle control and traction systems
Strong customer focus with a sense of urgency and ability to work with tight deadlines
Strong interpersonal and communications skills with a focus on providing top notch service
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must have or working on obtaining a Professional Engineer designation
Ability to travel internationally, occasionally, as required

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain detailed familiarity with company products and technologies
Gather and understand Customers' product requirements: assist in developing Scope of Work (SOW), Requests for Proposals (RFP) etc.
Provide technical support and consultation for the design and implementation of electric motors and controller systems for customer products.
Develop and provide technical/product training and support for the Sales Team, Sales Representatives and Customers
Provide technical support and guidance to electric vehicle manufacturers, dealers and end-users.
Troubleshoot electromechanical systems, including software, mechanical and electrical hardware
Ability to monitor market conditions and competition to support the organization in understanding the market and help to develop new products
Attend industry events and trade shows to promote the company's products and services
Onboard and support customers through their product development cycles
Create and maintain technical documentation, including datasheets and user manuals
Provide support for functional safety and electrical system failure analysis
Develop and analyze electrical and mechanical solutions/schematics
