Job title:
Senior Property Accountant

Salary:
$90,000-$100,000 + bonus

Role status:
Hybrid (3-4 days on site depending on projects)

A leading Canadian real estate owner and operator with a strong focus on retail assets across major markets. The organization offers a collaborative, performance-driven environment with close interaction between accounting, property management, and asset management teams. Principal tasks and responsibilities include:
- Own full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of retail properties, including shopping centres and mixed-use assets
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages, including variance analysis and reconciliations
- Manage CAM recoveries, realty tax billings, and tenant reconciliations across a high-volume portfolio
- Partner with Property Management and Asset Management to support operational and financial performance
- Support budgeting and reforecasting, including analysis of NOI drivers and controllable costs
- Prepare working papers, financial statements, and audit support for external reporting requirements
- Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, and integration of new assets
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and internal controls
- Support ad hoc analysis and projects tied to asset performance and portfolio optimization
Qualifications and pre-requisites:
- 3-5+ years of property accounting experience, ideally within retail or commercial real estate
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation (or in progress) preferred
- Strong understanding of CAM, recoveries, and lease structures
- Experience with Yardi or similar real estate ERP systems
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
