With opportunities for advancement in our growing company, you'll oversee the finance function, managing and supervising our small team (AP/AR accountants) while being hands-on, working side-by-side on execution tasks, and reporting directly to the Senior Director of Finance.

Roles & Responsibilities

Finance / Accounting Operations & Financial Oversight
Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger entries, and reconciliations.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and analyses to support decision-making.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records while maintaining compliance with accounting principles.
Oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. * Lead, manage, and supervise our small finance team on daily operations, providing guidance while actively participating in hands-on tasks.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and present financial reports for senior management, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations, including corporate tax filings and HST remittances.
Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and ensuring audit readiness.
Cash Flow & Financial Planning
Monitor cash flow and provide recommendations to ensure financial stability.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning with senior management.
Provide financial insights to help optimize company performance.
Process Improvement & Special Projects Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes and financial reporting systems.
Collaborate with the Senior Director of Finance on special projects.
Support the implementation of new accounting software or financial tools as required.
Organize regular team meetings to review performance and identify process improvements.
Credit Management & Risk Assessment Evaluate and recommend credit terms for new and existing customers based on financial analysis. Manage credit limits, payment terms, and collections, ensuring strong customer relationships. Monitor and mitigate credit risk exposure while maintaining a healthy cash flow.

Qualifications & Skills

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team management and supervisory roles, preferably in manufacturing, production, distribution, or a related industry. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance regulations. CPA designation (preferred). Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Spire, QuickBooks, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and MS Office Suite (Excel). Experience with month-end closures, reconciliations, and audit preparation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a small team in a hands-on environment, performing tasks alongside team members without relying on extensive support staff.
