Job Summary

TheDirector, Applications & Technical Servicesleads a global Applications Team focused on enabling the successful use of DHA in food and beverage products. This role connects science, customers, and commercial teams to deliver application-led solutions that support business growth.
Reporting to the Head of R&D, you will lead customer-driven application initiatives, provide senior technical support to Commercial and Sales teams, and ensure consistent, high-quality execution across the applications portfolio.

This role is based at our Headquarters in Dartmouth Nova Scotia.

Key Responsibilities

Applications Strategy & Execution

Define and lead the Applications & Technical Services strategy aligned with R&D and commercial objectives.
Establish and standardize application methodologies, testing protocols, and documentation.
Drive cross-functional project execution and represent applications considerations within stage-gate and portfolio processes.
Translate customer and market needs into clear technical and application requirements.
Support product development and innovation through close collaboration with R&D.

Customer & Technical Service

Partner with Commercial teams to provide applications and technical support that enables customer success.
Serve as the technical voice of the customer within Mara.
Implement systems to track and respond to customer technical requests and oversee a customer sample program.
Support customer-facing technical documentation and product value propositions.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards across all applications and technical service activities.

People Leadership & Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, global Applications Team.
Set clear performance expectations and development plans.
Allocate team resources effectively across strategic initiatives and customer support.
Champion safety, data integrity, and good laboratory practices.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Competencies

Ability to educate customers and internal teams on omega-3 oils and their use in food and beverage applications.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate an Applications Team.
Proven ability to manage cross-functional, customer-driven initiatives.
Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Solid understanding of the commercial aspects of omega-3 development, including intellectual property and commercialization.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
Strategic and analytical thinking with a customer-focused mindset.

Education & Experience

Graduate degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in food and beverage applications, technical services, or a related field.
Demonstrated success supporting sales and regional teams with applications and technical expertise.
Strong knowledge of omega-3 health benefits, bioavailability, and applications.
Proven ability to troubleshoot formulation, stability, and integration challenges.
Familiarity with regulatory standards relevant to omega-3 products.
