The Opportunity

As the People & Culture Advisor at Medisca, you’ll play a critical role in aligning people strategies with business goals. Serving as the main P&C contact for your assigned business units, you’ll work closely with leaders and employees to deliver impactful HR support across employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and learning & development. Your focus will be on creating a positive employee experience while driving initiatives that support growth and organizational success.

Develop and foster relationships with managers to ensure that employee relations, employee engagement, learning & development programs and initiatives are in support of the business objectives.
Act as a trusted advisor for employees for personal and professional matters.
Work closely with management and employees to design and implement programs to cultivate a positive culture, improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, career development, disciplinary actions). Act as a witness in disciplinary and termination meetings.
Send policy or procedure amendments, update Employee Handbooks, and create forms as needed.
Identify and coordinate training needs for new hires, and current employees.
Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations required
Three (3) to five (5) years related experience in Human Resources
Knowledge of Canadian & US labour laws
Experience in handling sensitive information & situations
Advanced interpersonal and mediation skills
Strong attention to detail with the ability to flag discrepancies while exercising sound ethical judgment
Strong work ethic, applies discretion in his/her work
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) required
Experience with HRIS or UKG is a plus
Excellent communication and writing skills required; fluent English and French an asset.
Ability to travel as needed to Montreal and British Columbia
