Headquartered in Pemberton, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) delivers a wide range of regional, sub-regional and local services to its residents. The SLRD is a BC Regional District consisting of four member municipalities (Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Lillooet) and four electoral areas. Services include land use planning, solid waste management, building inspection, fire protection, emergency preparedness, 911 services, recreation, water and sewer utilities, regional transit, trails and open spaces as well as financial support for various community services. The region contains some of the most spectacular forests, waterways, and mountains in the province and affords an endless range of opportunities for outdoor adventure, making it an exceptional place to live, work and play.

The SLRD is seeking a collaborative individual with excellent relationship-building skills to fill the position of Indigenous Relations Coordinator. This role will support the advancement of the SLRD’s Indigenous relations and engagement work across a range of services, in support of its commitment to respectful relationships, truth, reconciliation and the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and relevant Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Final Report. Reporting to the Indigenous Relations Advisor, this position will be responsible for providing project management, engagement and administrative support across a variety of initiatives, organizing relationship building events, and coordinating education and training for SLRD staff and Board members.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of related experience and a post-secondary degree with an emphasis on Indigenous studies, or a focus on public administration, public policy, political science, law, or a related discipline. The salary range for this position is $87,500 - $98,480 annually. A comprehensive extended benefits package, participation in the Municipal Pension Plan, compressed work week (9-day fortnight), professional development opportunities and hybrid remote work arrangements are also available with this position.
