Job Description

The Village at University Gates, located in Waterloo, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a Contracted Music Therapist to join our team.

You will work approximately 65 Hours Per Month.

As a Music Therapist you will work as an independent contractor for Schlegel Villages you will support residents as needed and reflective of their care plans:

Plan, review and assessing therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid the planning of subsequent sessions.
Take an active role in sessions by playing, singing, and listening.
Encourage residents to take part in the session, and supporting them by responding musically.
Help residents explore the world of sound and to create a musical language of their own.
Support the resident’s creative development and facilitating positive changes in their behavior and well-being.
The Music Therapist will have a degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution and be eligible for Accreditation with The Canadian Association of Music Therapists.
Experience working with seniors is an asset.
