POSITION OVERVIEW (Purpose)
Graywood Developments ("Graywood") is a privately-owned, Toronto-based real estate investment management company that specializes in the development of residential mixed-use properties of exceptional quality in Canada. During its 40-year history, Graywood has managed 55 projects, with 32,600 housing units and a combined value of $9.7 billion. Due to continued growth, we are our looking for an Analyst who will become an integral part of Graywood's team.
The Analyst will provide analytical and research support to the Investments and Corporate Development teams. This role will assist in evaluating investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, financial modeling, and preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
This is an entry level role. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and quantitative reasoning, financial skills, and attention to detail. The candidate will have advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint and have the ability to manage many concurrent tasks while adhering to competing deadlines.
Responsibilities
Your duties include, but are not limited to:
Investments
Assist in the acquisition of mixed-use development sites and incoming producing properties on behalf of Graywood's institutional and high-net worth fund investors.
- Perform strategic analysis using Excel to integrate existing project data in collaboration with other departments.
- Updating project proformas to reflect updated project timing, revenue, and costs assumptions.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis across key investment markets to support acquisitions and investment thesis.
- Assist in the tracking and organization of the acquisition pipeline.
- Assist in the preparation of acquisition models and other financial analysis to assist in the evaluation of investment and development opportunities.
- Assist in the completion of underwriting packages for review by senior management and investment committee.
- Participate in due diligence process for proposed investments.
Corporate Development
Support equity fundraising strategies for Graywood's private investment platforms.
- Update and maintain a list of investor prospects using Graywood's online investor relations and fundraising platform with support of Corporate Development team
- Prepare and maintain marketing materials and investor presentations in support of equity fundraising activities.
- Coordinate with accounting team to prepare investor cashflows and maintain Graywood's quarterly project statistics and return information
- Prepare research and presentation materials in support of pursuing new business opportunities within the real estate industry in Canada.
- Research and compile information to support equity fundraising and investor relations strategies, including information for webinars and thought pieces.
- Assist with additional corporate initiatives including Graywood's chariable giving, ESG reporting, among others.
Qualifications
Education
- University undergraduate degree, preferably in Commerce/Business Administration (with Real Estate or Finance specialization) or real estate focused graduate degree.
Experience
- 0-3 years of experience in investment analysis, corporate finance, or related fields. Internships or co-op experience preferred.
Key Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate findings clearly.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of investment principles and financial markets.
