We Are Looking For
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee manufacturing operations in our HDPE pipe production facility. This role ensures efficient extrusion, cooling, cutting, and finishing processes while driving Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HDPE extrusion, process optimization, and workforce leadership.
What You Will Do
Production Supervision
- Manage daily operations of HDPE pipe extrusion lines, ensuring production targets for output, quality, and efficiency are met.
- Oversee raw material blending, pipe extrusion, cooling, sizing, cutting, and finishing to maintain process consistency.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, operational protocols, and quality control procedures.
- Lead, train, and mentor production team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and other key metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Lean Manufacturing & Process Improvement
- Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives, such as 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and waste reduction programs.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, material efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Use data-driven problem-solving (Root Cause Analysis, PDCA, etc.) to improve product consistency and reduce defects.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to optimize workflows and standardize procedures.
- Support the implementation of automation and smart manufacturing technologies for process efficiency.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with ISO, ASTM, and other industry standards for HDPE pipe manufacturing.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to address defects, conduct inspections, and maintain quality records.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for quality and production issues.
What You Will Need
- Education: High school diploma required.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a Production Supervisor in HDPE pipe manufacturing or plastics extrusion is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of HDPE extrusion processes, die head operation, cooling tanks, and pullers/cutters.
- Experience implementing Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), ERP systems, and production tracking tools.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
- Ability to analyze data, optimize production schedules, and improve efficiency.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and raw material handling.
- Requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs., and hands-on troubleshooting.
- Work schedule may include rotating shifts, weekends, or overtime based on production demands.
