Project Manager – Product Development & Support
Reporting to and working with the VP of R&D, this purpose-driven positionplays a critical role in advancing our mission, leading the development, execution, and commercialization of new products and technologies as well as providing engineering support that serve our lottery, gaming and kiosk customers while delivering measurable business impact through continuous improvement. This is a strategic and influential role for driving enterprise decision-making and prioritisation of R&D projects and resources, with the goal of leading market share and sustainable business success.
What you'll need to succeed
- Able to proactively lead product development projects working with a team of subject matter experts / professionals (Electronic, Mechanical and Firmware engineers).
- Although an engineering or software development background would be a definite asset, candidates with proven technology experience and working knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical, and Firmware engineering disciplines including common communication protocols (USB, RS232, etc…) will be considered.
- Proven expertise in technology development and commercialization, including pilot deployment, execution planning, and regulatory approvals.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate business cases for development, balancing the needs of support requests from all stakeholders (Customers, Service and Support and Manufacturing teams), and effectively allocating available resources.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills, fostering high-performance collaboration and aligning teams with organizational goals.
- Proactive problem-solving and strategic decision-making, leveraging data-driven insights to prioritize activities, navigate challenges and influence leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present project updates to the Management Team, prepare proposals, and engage stakeholders.
- Proven Project Management experience, familiarity with gaming industry and associated regulatory standards and bilingualism (French-English) are considered assets.
What you'll be doing: Product Development & Support
- Lead R&D meetings, scrums and mediate discussions to ensure activities are continuously prioritized and aligned so resources are on task.
- Lead all product development projects (hardware and software), from business case validation to deployment, ensuring alignment with Nanoptix’ strategic and financial objectives.
- Develop, assess and refine project economics, balancing resource and financial viability to optimize timelines and drive scalable, profitable projects.
- Lead product development while ensuring R&D resources are effectively deployed to support existing customer base, as well as manufacturing, sales and service teams.
- Oversee technology validation, ensuring pilot outcomes support commercialization roadmaps, rapid but meaningful prototype iteration and long-term market adoption.
- Work with stakeholders (Operations, R&D, Finance & Administration, Sales and Marketing, service and support team, vendors, consultants, etc…) to enhance business processes. (e.g. Contribute to non-R&D projects/initiatives that also need to be effectively managed)
Project Execution & Leadership: The ideal candidate:
- Possesses excellent cross-functional management skills, ensuring seamless coordination and execution across technical, commercial, service & support and operational teams to drive informed decision-making and hand-off (i.e. a true team player).
- Will be able to understand and translate company goals into structured workstreams and timelines, to clearly define project deliverables and milestones.
- Will use effective communication and data-driven insights through personalised reporting tools, dashboards and KPI’s to measure effectiveness and lead continuous improvement of product development lifecycle and support of deployed products.
- Will effectively document and organize all project and management information to support data-driven decisions and recommendations.
- Is able to map out cross-functional processes, roles and responsibilities in order ensure alignment to company values, project objectives and technical requirements to steer optimum outcomes in both project management and support functions.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn, grow and operate effectively even when there is ambiguity or uncertainty.
