Chief Operating Engineer / Maintenance Supervisor
- permanent position DAYS - $95K to $110K + bonus
LOCATION: Toronto, Ontario
SHIFT: Monday to Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm
Qualifications:
2nd Class Power / Stationary Engineer license
Additional trade license (Millwright or Electrician) an asset
5 yrs+ experience working in a related position within food / beverage industry
Proven hands-on success with preventative and predictive maintenance systems
Solid troubleshooting and problem solving skills, including PLC, HMI, automation
Progressive approach to maintenance
Process improvement driven
Good understanding of scheduling requirements and coordinating maintenance and repair activities
Ability to prioritize, plan and schedule work effectively with a production team in a fast paced environment
Good communication and interpersonal skills required verbal and written
Computer skills CMMS MP2, MS Office
Willing and able to work assigned shift
Duties:
Responsible for safe and efficient operation and electro-mechanical repairs of plant equipment as well as maintenance of the plant infrastructure
Assisting and supporting maintenance staff with a focus on continuous improvement of processes and efficiencies
Responsible for maintenance department personnel, project management where required, and ensuring corrective action & escalations with regards to plant challenges
Responsible for site power engineering responsibilities
Direct and lead maintenance team in scheduling, planning and executing, PM and repair of plant production equipment (processing, packaging, office)
Improve and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance systems
Identify opportunities and make recommendations to continuously improve maintenance operations and efficiencies
Perform work planning and coordination of all skilled trades within the plant (Millwrights, Electricians, Shift Engineers)
Oversee the safe and efficient operation of all utilities (Steam Boilers, Refrigeration, Cooling Tower, DAF Wastewater Treatment, Air Compressors, HVAC/Heating Systems, etc.) within the plant, for which the shift engineers are accountable for maintaining daily Logbook as per TSSA/ESA Standards
Ensure that required parts are ordered, organized, and stocked
Food Safety & Quality responsibility as outlined in SOPs and other training materials provided and maintain accurate record keeping
Coordinate with all outside contractors and ensure that work is completed in a safe manner that complies with all necessary manufacturing codes, regulations and standards (i.e H&S, GMPs, HACCP, WHMIS, MSDS)
Communicate daily maintenance activity to all Supervisors and Operators
Oversee capital projects assigned by Maintenance and Reliability Manager & provide technical expertise and support to Corporate Engineering Team
Participate as an active member of the JHSC
Assist senior management with establishing and implementing operating and capital budgets; ensure maintenance operates within budget parameters
Train and develop maintenance staff using continuous improvement methodologies
Attend prescribed courses and training as required
Other projects as assigned by management
