About the role:
The Construction Administrator will work with the Architect, Senior Designer, Construction Desing Lead and other building professionals, to ensure the project is built to specification. This role is office-based, with 20% site work.
Responsibilities:
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Produce architectural working drawings and specifications using CAD and BIM software.
- Analyze architectural plans and drawings, identify potential risks or issues, and make amendments using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Liaise with the Architect, BIM Manager, and other construction professionals to discuss project status and challenges. Coordinate updates to office standard documents, implementing lessons learned during construction.
- Act as a key link between the designer and construction team to ensure design intent is accurately communicated and maintained throughout the project.
- Support the designer in preparing detailed design packages, coordination drawings, and revisions during construction.
- Review design documents for coordination with structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines prior to construction release.
- Produce detailed drawings during the Construction Document Phase, including building sections and construction details.
- Manage and organize project documentation, including drawings, RFIs, submittals, and correspondence, ensuring proper version control and traceability.
- Collect, file, and maintain construction documentation and submission logs.
- Coordinate consultant and contractor drawings to ensure consistency with architectural and development standards.
- Update BIM models and CAD drawings as required based on field conditions and design changes.
- Participate in internal design coordination meetings to align project documentation with architectural standards and development objectives.
- Conduct material research and assist in selecting products that meet design and performance requirements.
- Review and update project schedules, providing weekly status reports.
- Perform contract administration tasks such as shop drawing reviews, RFIs, site instructions, and field reviews in coordination with the construction administration team.
- Conduct site visits and prepare Site Visit Reports when required.
- Prepare deficiency and close-out reports.
- Collect all required documentation for occupancy and prepare as-built architectural drawings.
- Implement the archive policy (three months after occupancy) for final project documentation.
- Develop post-construction performance reports for ownership review.

What you bring Skills and Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in architectural drafting, contract administration, or coordination within a developer, design-build, or architectural environment.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM workflows; experience with Microsoft Project and Planner is an asset.
- Solid understanding of construction drawings, detailing, and building systems.
- Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, building materials, and construction processes.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate effectively between design and construction teams.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience preparing as-built drawings and coordinating consultant documentation is an asset.
- Strong teamwork orientation and willingness to collaborate with various departments.
