LeverageTek is actively seeking a Business Analyst for a 2-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

Key Tasks
- Reporting to the Director, Communications and Passenger Experience, the Business Analyst will be responsible for the following tasks, including but not limited to:
- Identify and document user requirements, business processes, system touchpoints, policies, and procedures to assess the impact on the project plans and critical path.
- Develop project concept documents and business cases:
- Deliver user documentation; and develop functional and technical requirements.
- Map current-state (“As-Is”) and future-state (“To-Be”) business processes for Claims; Complaints; and Enquiries management and reporting. Including integration workflows and reporting capabilities, identifying business problems, scope, goals, pain points, redundancies and gaps and opportunities. Incorporate recommendations for reporting, automation, AI, and/or process enhancements, along with actionable solutions and project plans.
- Develop clear functional, technical and data requirements, translating business needs into actionable systems and process improvements.
- Advise internal teams on process improvements and act as a bridge between business and technical stakeholders; present findings and facilitate validation workshops to incorporate stakeholder feedback.
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve efficiency, governance, and client service, and ensure thorough documentation of all work.
- Provide weekly progress reports.
- Complete thorough documentation of all work performed, including:
- Technical specifications, process maps, instructions, and support materials.
- Any other activities or sub-projects assigned at the discretion of the Director, Communications and Passenger Experience.
- Non-mandatory added value: Provide guidance and documentation for business users on leveraging AI tools to create and use AI-powered solutions.
Key Qualifications
- Business Requirements & Documentation: Proven ability to gather and document user requirements, develop business cases, and produce clear functional, technical, and process documentation.
- Process Mapping & Improvement: Strong experience mapping As-Is/To-Be processes (ideally for Claims/Complaints/Enquiries), identifying gaps, and recommending solutions across reporting, automation, and workflow optimization.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled at bridging business and technical teams, facilitating workshops, presenting findings, and incorporating stakeholder feedback to drive project alignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of Business Analyst experience, preferably in a technical or process-heavy environment.
- Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting business requirements, functional specifications, and technical requirements.
- Proven experience developing business cases, project concept documents, and user documentation.
- Strong background in process mapping (As-Is/To-Be) and workflow redesign.
- Proficiency with process mapping/diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, BPMN tools).
- Strong understanding of system integration touchpoints and data flows.
- Ability to identify gaps, redundancies, and improvement opportunities across workflows and reporting.
- Exceptional ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
- Skilled at facilitating workshops, leading discussions, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Experience bridging communication between business units and technical teams.
- Strong documentation skills, including technical specs, process maps, instructions, and support materials.
Assets
- Business Analyst certifications (CBAP, Lean Six Sigma, CBPP )
- Experience working on projects related to claims, complaints, or enquiries management is a strong asset.
- Experience with reporting tools, automation, or AI/ML use cases is an asset.
