Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissionsDrive as part of a two-person team or convoyObtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routesOperate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materialsOversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipmentPay and receive payments for goodsPerform brake adjustmentsPerform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicleRecord cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumptionCommunicate with passengers, dispatchers or other drivers using two-way radio systems
