They are currently seeking an IT Application Specialist with strong foundational IT skills and basic healthcare systems exposure. Candidates with experience in EMR, RIS/PACS, healthcare modalities, and clinical workflows are preferred — however, the organization is open to training individuals who have solid IT fundamentals and a basic understanding of healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 IT Support & Application Maintenance (Primary Focus)
- Provide frontline IT support for clinical and administrative staff across multiple clinic locations.
- Support and maintain healthcare applications such as EMR/EHR, RIS/PACS, Velox, Ocean, and other diagnostic systems.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, scanners, printers, and diagnostic equipment connectivity.
- Apply operating system updates, security patches, and configuration changes.
- Monitor application and system performance, proactively addressing issues and escalating as needed.
- Assist with integration of new diagnostic equipment into existing IT/network environments.
🔹 User Support & Training
- Provide one-on-one and group training to physicians, clinicians, technicians, and admin staff on IT systems.
- Help create user guides, support documents, and training materials.
- Offer ongoing refresher training to ensure optimal system utilization.
🔹 Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with clinic managers, technicians, physicians, and administrative teams to understand day-to-day operational needs.
- Coordinate with IT infrastructure teams, vendors, and project managers to resolve issues and deliver solutions.
- Serve as a communication bridge between clinical users and technical teams.
🔹 Compliance, Documentation & Quality
- Maintain documentation for system setups, user configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure IT operations comply with privacy/security requirements such as PHIPA and HIPAA.
- Support quality improvement initiatives through monitoring application usage and identifying efficiency opportunities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Medical Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Exposure to EMR/EHR, RIS/PACS, or diagnostic imaging systems is an asset (training will be provided for the right candidate).
Experience
- 2–5 years of IT support, helpdesk, or application support experience.
- Experience or basic understanding of healthcare systems, clinical workflows, EMR/EHR, or imaging systems preferred.
- Experience participating in IT or application projects (implementations, upgrades, or system rollouts) is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and ability to support clinical end users with varying technical skill levels.
- Ability to multitask and work independently across multiple clinic locations.
- Knowledge of healthcare data privacy, security, and compliance standards.
Other Requirements
- Must be willing to travel extensively to clinics within Toronto and surrounding regions.
- Hybrid role — not remote. Regular onsite presence is mandatory.
