Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Applications, the Senior IT Systems Integration Engineer plays a key role in designing, developing, and implementing system integrations across multiple platforms and technologies. This role ensures that complex enterprise systems work seamlessly together by creating and maintaining robust interfaces, APIs, and automation workflows. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze integration requirements, develop scalable solutions, and enhance overall system interoperability.
Primary Scope of Role
- Design, implement, and maintain system integrations between enterprise applications, databases, and third-party systems.
- Develop, test, and deploy APIs, middleware, and automation scripts to ensure smooth data exchange between systems.
- Collaborate with software developers, network engineers, and business analysts to define integration requirements and architecture.
- Monitor and troubleshoot integration workflows, ensuring reliability and performance of system interfaces.
- Maintain documentation for integration architecture, data mappings, and system dependencies.
- Implement best practices for version control, CI/CD, and configuration management across integration environments.
- Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance requirements are upheld throughout integration processes.
- Evaluate emerging integration tools and technologies to optimize system performance and efficiency.
- Stakeholder management: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal teams. Negotiate requirements and manage expectations with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Vendor management: Manage vendor relationships and performance, particularly when dealing with third-party integrators, hardware, and software.
- Compliance and quality assurance: Ensure that all integrated systems adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements. This includes security protocols and quality assurance procedures.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect are highly desirable.
- Additional certifications in DevOps, networking, or security are considered an asset.
- 5–8 years of proven hands-on experience in systems integration, software development, or enterprise IT environments.
- Strong experience with APIs (REST, SOAP), web services, and middleware platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Apache Camel, etc.).
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Java, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and integration services (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Logic Apps).
- Solid understanding of networking protocols, authentication standards (OAuth2, SAML), and data formats (JSON, XML).
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps for deployment automation.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in an agile or hybrid environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
