DevOps Engineer – OpenShift Specialist (Contract)

We’re supporting a major organization in the financial sector that is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with deep OpenShift expertise . This role centers on managing and enhancing a large enterprise OpenShift environment, ensuring stable operations, smooth deployments, and a highly automated platform.
Role Focus
This position is ideal for someone who has spent several years working directly with OpenShift in production , including managing clusters, supporting application teams, and handling complex operational scenarios. You will serve as a subject matter expert on platform reliability, configuration, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day administration of OpenShift clusters, including configuration, updates, scaling, and performance oversight
- Support application teams with onboarding, deployment workflows, and troubleshooting within OpenShift
- Build and maintain automation tooling using Ansible to standardize platform operations
- Develop scripts or utilities in Python or Java to streamline deployments and operational processes
- Enhance CI/CD workflows and integrate OpenShift with DevOps pipelines (Git-based systems, artifact repositories, etc.)
- Participate in diagnosing platform issues related to networking, routing, certificates, and container performance
- Ensure containerized applications follow best practices for resiliency, security, and reliability
- Collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams to improve platform consistency and automation maturity
What You Bring
- Extensive hands-on experience managing OpenShift (or Kubernetes with significant OpenShift exposure) in production environments
- Strong background in automation with Ansible
- Proficiency in Python or Java for scripting, operational tooling, or deployment tasks
- Solid understanding of CI/CD, container packaging, and DevOps workflows
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, certificates, load balancing, firewalls)
- Ability to work autonomously during standard EST business hours and support a distributed team
