Lead Applied Scientist – Applied AI & NLP - $200 - 230k - hybrid (3 days in office)

We’re looking for a Lead Applied Scientist to join an advanced research and development team working at the cutting edge of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Information Retrieval (IR) , and Generative AI .
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on rapid learning and cross-functional collaboration, bringing a GenAI/agentic problem-solving approach and the ability to design end-to-end solutions quickly in highly interactive workshop settings, rather than working in deep silos for months at a time.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI solutions from concept to production.
- Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering teams to align innovation with business value.
- Translate complex research into scalable, real-world applications.
- Guide and mentor other scientists and engineers, fostering technical excellence.
- Stay current with emerging research and technologies in NLP, IR, and generative AI.
- Contribute to the company’s AI strategy and thought leadership, including participation in top research conferences (ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, etc.).
What We’re Looking For
- PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years’ hands-on experience developing NLP / IR systems for commercial use.
- Proven ability to architect and build end-to-end machine learning solutions.
- Strong programming and software engineering skills (Python preferred).
- Experience scaling AI prototypes into production environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with both technical and non-technical partners.
- Demonstrated leadership in applied research and innovation.
