Job description:
Insight Global is seeking an Integration Developer to join a large insurance client on a hybrid contract beginning February 2nd (with flexibility to start earlier). This role is critical to ongoing proof‑of‑concept (PoC) initiatives, where the developer will integrate third‑party cyber risk assessment tools with internal systems, validate vendor solutions, and design high‑level API integration logic. The successful candidate will split time between two PoC projects, ensuring seamless connectivity, secure coding practices, and technical documentation to support enterprise modernization.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities will include designing and implementing integration logic, documenting flows and mapping decisions, and serving as the point of contact for vendor API connectivity and data validation. The developer will integrate with Guidewire PolicyCenter and CyberHub, configure products to handle JSON/XML data formats, and ensure outputs align with business rules. They will also be responsible for sandbox integrations, troubleshooting issues, and validating whether PoC solutions meet enterprise needs.
This position is pivotal to the client’s technology roadmap, as successful integrations will determine vendor selection and influence long‑term architecture decisions. By combining strong API expertise with secure coding practices and stakeholder collaboration, the Integration Developer will play a key role in safeguarding data integrity and enabling scalable modernization. This is a 6 month contract (high possibility of extension) with the expectation to be in office 2 days per week downtown Calgary or Toronto.
Required Skills:
- 10+ years of integration development experience, including prior work on proof‑of‑concept initiatives
- Proven API integration expertise with RESTful APIs (mandatory) and SOAP services
- Strong understanding of authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, or SAML – proficiency in at least one required)
- Hands-on experience with programming languages such as Java (mandatory) and Node.js
- Skilled in data handling using JSON, XML, and data transformation/mapping techniques
- Experience with cloud deployment in AWS or Azure for integration and PoC environments
- Kubernetes expertise (mandatory), with hands‑on experience in RedHat OpenShift, AKS (Azure Kubernetes Services), or EKS (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Services)
- Experience with API integrations with Guidewire PolicyCenter
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices (conceptual understanding required)
- Proficiency in API testing tools, including Postman (mandatory) and SoapUI (plus)
- Understanding of secure coding principles (OWASP Top 10), with ability to implement input validation, encryption, and secure API communication
- Demonstrated experience developing technical documentation for integration flows, mapping logic, and design decisions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in secure integrations with third‑party vendors
- Familiarity with the insurance domain or Guidewire ecosystem (PolicyCenter, Jutro UI framework)
- Ability to adapt to evolving tech stack decisions (buy vs build scenarios)
- Certifications in cloud, integration, or security are considered an asset
