Our Toronto based client is seeking multiple Windows Active Directory consultants for 1 year contract positions to start in January. The candidate/s would be required to work two days onsite in the downtown Toronto area.
Core responsibilities:
- Create, modify, and manage user accounts, security groups, and permissions to control access to network resources.
- Implement and enforce security measures, policies, and standards. This includes managing user permissions and ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Develop, configure, and deploy Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to standardize security settings and configurations across the network.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to Active Directory, authentication, and access control. This can include complex problems escalated to higher-level support.
- Install and maintain Active Directory domain controllers, manage server patching, and ensure systems are up-to-date.
- Backup and recovery: Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for the Active Directory environment to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Improve performance and security.
- Identify and delete/disable objects using PowerShell, ADUC, or other third-party tools
- Clean up empty or unlinked Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
- Monitor system performance and stability, and create reports on incidents and changes.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate Active Directory with other services and applications.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory architecture.
- Experience with GPO's, DNS and DHCP
- Familiarity with Azure AD and ADFS
- Knowledge of ITIL practices for incident, change, and problem management.
- Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Certificate Services.
- Strong experience in AD, OU (Organizational Unit) cleanup
- Active Directory (AD) cleanup including the removal stale and inactive objects, like user and computer accounts
