Field Service Technician (Level 1.5 – Bench + Onsite Deployments)
Full-Time | Onsite Majority | Abbotsford, BC
Are you hands-on, hardware-savvy, and ready to take the next step in your IT career? Are you done with taking ticket after ticket and want to venture towards a more project / hands on field work tech? Keep reading - this one may be for you!
A growing Managed Services Provider in Abbotsford is looking for a Field Service Technician to support client deployments and hardware provisioning across the Fraser Valley. If you have 1–2 years of experience and want to grow into more complex technical work over time, this is a great opportunity to level up.
You’ll work on the Professional Services team, not in a help desk queue, and be the go-to person for onsite installs, bench prep, and project deployments. This is a great fit for someone who’s confident with hardware, enjoys being out in the field, and wants to expand their skills in a stable, supportive environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Bench & Provisioning Work (Core Focus)
- Prepare desktops, laptops, and related gear using internal imaging and scripting processes
- Open and upgrade hardware components (memory, drives, etc.)
- Follow standardized checklists and IT Glue documentation for consistent setups
- Ensure devices are client-ready and professionally configured
Onsite Deployments
- Deliver and install systems at client offices across the Fraser Valley
- Act as the onsite lead for hardware rollouts and installations
- Handle light troubleshooting during installs (with L1/L2 team support)
- Support Pro Services engineers with hands-on project tasks (e.g., new gear setups, networking equipment)
Team Collaboration
- Work from a clear task queue—no live ticket handling
- Coordinate field schedules with your supervisor
- Document work thoroughly in Autotask and IT Glue
- Represent the company professionally during client visits
What You Bring
Must-Have Experience
- 1–3 years in IT support, bench tech, or field deployment role
- Comfortable with PC/laptop hardware—installing memory, drives, etc.
- Familiar with imaging and provisioning systems
- Experience working with or around MSPs (or similar fast-paced IT environments)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Familiarity with:
- Autotask or other PSA tools
- IT Glue or other documentation platforms
Nice to Have
- Some troubleshooting experience (desktop, software, basic networking)
- Comfortable working directly with end users onsite
- Willingness to learn networking (firewalls, switches, servers) over time
- Exposure to:
- Datto RMM
- FortiGate firewalls
- Datto networking gear
- HP or Unifi switching/wireless
- Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Microsoft 365
Why This Role Matters
The current Level 2 tech is transitioning to remote work, leaving a gap for onsite support. You’ll step in as the primary field technician , owning the physical delivery and setup of systems for clients. You’ll also get the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers and grow into more advanced roles at your own pace.
- Be the boots on the ground for a busy MSP
- Tons of room to grow into projects, servers, and networking
- Supportive team, great leadership, and steady work
Location & Schedule
- Based in Abbotsford – primarily onsite with some flexibility for occasional remote work
- Travel across the Fraser Valley for client visits
- Travel allowance provided
