Position Overview:
We’re looking for dependable, upbeat students to help on weekends with shopping cart and basket retrieval, outdoor tidiness, and great front-door customer service. You’ll work mostly outside, keeping our entry areas safe, clear, and welcoming.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Retrieve, line up, and stage shopping carts and baskets from the parking lot and store entrances.
- Keep entrances/sidewalks tidy; spot and report hazards (spills, debris, icy patches)
- Organize inside the store: perform regular sweeps of aisles, cash lanes, Customer Service, and seasonal areas to collect scattered carts/baskets and return them to cart bays.
- Offer friendly assistance to customers at the door (directions, cart handoff)
- Offer courteous assistance at the door (directions, cart handoff).
- Follow health & safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Increase sweep frequency during peak hours to prevent carts/baskets from spreading across the store.
- Support simple outdoor tasks (e.g., moving cart corrals/signage as directed)
Requirements
- Weekends (Saturday/Sunday) during the school year; extra shifts may be available on holidays/breaks.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working outdoors/indoors in all weather.
- Physically able to push/pull cart trains and lift up to ~50 lbs as needed.
- Safety-first mindset; able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and a positive attitude.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
