A leading organization in the environmental services sector is seeking an experienced Director of Health and Safety. The Role
As the Director of Health and Safety, you will report to the CEO while leading initiatives to enhance safety performance and mitigate risks. You will be at the heart of strategic decision-making, championing safety initiatives, and collaborating with senior leaders to embed a prevention-first mindset into every aspect of operations. This is a high-impact position where your leadership will directly influence the organization’s long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with executive leadership to set health, safety, and risk goals, building and empowering a collaborative team of safety business partners to drive operational excellence.
- Analyze safety data and incident trends to develop measurable KPIs, dashboards, and action plans that deliver continuous improvement and reduce workplace risks.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of safety policies, compliance programs, and risk mitigation strategies, ensuring adherence to federal and provincial regulations.
- Lead investigations, emergency preparedness, and training initiatives to address root causes and reinforce a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in occupational health, safety, risk management, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CRSP) are an asset.
- At least 10 years of progressive leadership in health, safety, and risk management, ideally in transportation or manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian federal/provincial safety legislation.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with experience fostering team development, collaboration with diverse stakeholders, and adaptability in dynamic environments.
