Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Trainer, Safety to work out of our mill site near Athabasca, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring Al-Pac is compliant with safety training and certification requirements owned by the Health, Safety & Security department. The Trainer is also responsible for scheduling and conducting training and development sessions to support individual and organizational needs. This role is a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension.

Role Responsibilities
- Facilitate HSS orientation for new hires.
- Monitor learning platforms for training compliance, needs and recertification.
- Deliver pre-developed training sessions or short courses- engaging, advising and guiding learners and evaluation the achievement of intended learning outcomes.
- Administer and maintain record for training and H&S competency requirements.
- Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of computer applications such as Microsoft Office
- Gathering and summarizing data for special report
- Coordinates, organizes, facilitate and schedules third-party vendors when required to support training needs that have been identified.
- Maintain supplies required for training.
- Maintain sign in/out logs of HSS assets including fall protection equipment, lock out tag out equipment, gas detection systems/devices, and keys for certain access areas within the mill.
- Carry out a wide range of data processing tasks as directed and advise other colleagues and provide guidance on processes when needed.
- Enter data including, but not limited to orientation, lock out tag out logs/lists, hot work permit records, and investigation documentation into HSS online communities for tracking and record retention.
- Plans and prioritizes work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
Role Requirements
- Post-secondary certificate in health and safety or a related field is required.
- Occupational Health & Safety certificate is considered an asset.
- 1-3 years’ experience working in a similar role is required.
- Experience with health and safety programs in the forestry/manufacturing sectors would be preferred.
- Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
