IGI is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced human resources generalist with a focus on US and Canadian talent acquisition and employee benefits . This role will serve as a trusted advisor, brand ambassador and subject matter expert on full cycle talent acquisition, benefits programs and HR initiatives, while ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies across various regions.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources:
- Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on employee relations and performance management, providing guidance to leaders and employees on complex and sensitive matters with sound judgment and empathy.
- Provide expertise on Company benefits programs, supporting employees with questions, enrollment, and issue resolution.
- Advise managers on performance expectations, documentation, and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), ensuring fair, transparent, and timely outcomes.
- Support new hire onboarding and orientation, ensuring a seamless and positive integration experience.
- Participate in employee engagement, change management, and development initiatives that strengthen team cohesion and drive performance.
- Manage processes for unplanned exits, Return to Office (RTO), and other types of employee absence requests.
- Ensure compliance with all state, provincial and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies and procedures.
- Manage local employee development initiatives, including training programs, workshops, and mentoring.
- Support training initiatives and collaborate with relevant stakeholder/s to help drive training needs across various regions.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR initiatives that align with the company’s long-term goals.
Talent Acquisition:
- Lead the end-to-end recruitment process for roles across the US and Canada, ensuring a positive experience for candidates and hiring managers.
- Build strong partnerships with hiring managers, leaders, colleagues, and external recruitment firms to ensure business alignment, transparency, and effective collaboration throughout the hiring process.
- Implement sourcing strategies to target niche technical roles and maintain a diverse and qualified candidate pool.
- Proactively source candidates through job boards, social media, professional networks, referrals, and targeted outreach to build robust talent pipelines while maintaining accurate candidate data and generating insights to support hiring decisions.
- Conduct intake meetings with hiring managers to clarify role requirements, align on expectations, and develop tailored recruitment plans.
- Manage assessments and interviews, handling scheduling, communication, and overall logistics. Guide hiring managers on assessment and interview best practices.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and employment legislation across the US and Canada.
- Track and analyze key recruitment metrics and market data to identify trends, improve efficiency, and guide business decisions.
- Stay current on recruitment trends, emerging technologies, and legislation to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Develop and refine recruiting strategies and processes to enhance the overall candidate and hiring-manager experience.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience as a HR Generalist.
- 3-5 years’ proven experience as an in-house recruiter.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products.
- Familiarity with HR Information Systems (Workday, BambooHR, PeopleSoft).
- Experience in oil & gas, industrial gases, chemical processing, or manufacturing industries is preferred.
- CHRP, CHRL, SHRM Certification or in progress is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
