Intermediate Designer
Location: Toronto, ON
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Salary: $70,000–$80,000 (based on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking an Intermediate Designer to support creative direction and project development for signage, experiential design, branding, and wayfinding initiatives. This role is ideal for a highly creative, detail-oriented designer who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys bringing stories and places to life through thoughtful visual communication.
You will contribute to concept development, design execution, documentation, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile, impactful projects in architecture, placemaking, and environmental design.
Key Responsibilities
- Ideate, conceptualize, and execute designs for signage, wayfinding, experiential and branded environments.
- Support Creative Directors in developing design strategies, narratives, and project storylines.
- Participate in internal and external design workshops.
- Prepare design documentation, presentations, artwork, and conceptual renderings.
- Develop design intent specifications and maintain quality throughout all project phases.
- Review shop drawings, attend site visits, and assist with punch lists.
- Research and explore innovative materials and production methods.
- Provide feedback to junior team members and collaborate closely with senior staff.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and project partners throughout the design process.
- Ensure project deliverables reflect defined goals, design intent, and standards.
- Support project planning, budgeting discussions, scheduling, and internal processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
- 3–5 years of professional design experience; experience in signage, wayfinding, or experiential design is required.
- Background in experiential graphic design, architecture, or industrial design environments preferred.
- Working knowledge of signage/wayfinding production methods is beneficial.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, AfterEffects) and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with 3D modelling tools such as Revit, SketchUp, or Adobe Substance is an asset.
- Excellent communication, organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
