Shape the Voice of Canada’s Innovative Medicines Industry
Innovative Medicines Canada (IMC) is seeking a Content Writer responsible for the creation and development of communications deliverables that are aligned with the strategic priorities of Innovative Medicines Canada. This includes developing articles, blog posts, memos, newsletters, media releases, speeches, and other communications products. The successful candidate is a masterful writer, crafting engaging copy while also thinking strategically about how content fits into the larger picture. Reporting directly to the VP, Communications, the Content Writer also provides advice and expertise pertaining to the Association’s communication function.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Works with the Communications team to support strategies that build brand recognition and communicate the value of the innovative pharmaceutical industry in Canada
- Develops, writes and edits clear, compelling, and on-brand content across multiple platforms (e.g. website, email campaigns, social media, landing pages, blogs, etc.)
- Oversees creation and distribution of key messages, media releases, Q&A’s, speeches, social media content and other communications products as required
- Ensures tone and sensitivities to external factors are taken into consideration in public messaging
- Creates content calendars, editorial plans, and style guides to streamline and manage content production
- Oversees and coordinates with all IMC staff for uptake on external communication products for events, webinars and speaking engagements for aligned messaging
- Other duties may be requested as required by the VP, Communications
What You Bring
- A university degree or college diploma in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of progressive experience in writing or content strategy, ideally with a background in journalism and/or agency settings.
- Exemplary writing and editing skills , with a proven ability to translate complex topics into simple language.
- Ability to write comprehensive reports and documents demonstrating strong attention to detail
- High level of diplomacy, tact, judgment and leadership abilities.
- Track record of collaboration/team orientation
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and remain composed in a high-pressured environment
- Knowledge of major style guides (e.g., APA, MLA) and the Canadian healthcare environment is an asset.
- French is a strong asset.
