We are seeking reliable and safety-conscious worker to join our client’s team located in Lethbridge County, Alberta, Canada. The successful candidate will work in warm and cold environments, move product up to 50lbs through out the day, provide production support, and perform minor preventative maintenance and repairs.
This is an three-month contract opportunity seeking someone to start ASAP . This position operates on a rotating shift every two weeks (7 AM - 3:30 PM, and 3 PM -11:30 PM every two weeks) . This role offers full eight to twelve hour days, plus overtime, five days per week (OT hours include weekends and shift work as required during peak seasons).
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks associated conditioning, some general repair and maintenance, as directed by supervisor.
- Activities from receiving to storage.
- Conditioning activities such as cleaning and sizing, treating and packaging, palletizing, wrapping and sampling.
- Shipping/receiving, interplant movement, rework, warehousing, and inventory management of bagged and bulk seed, including the safe operation of forklifts.
- Compliance with Work Instructions and Quality Plan requirements.
- Complete and maintain appropriate records, documents, or reports such as quality, safety, grower, and inventory records.
Requirements
- Knowledge of production agriculture.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions and anticipate needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, reliability, work accuracy, and timeliness.
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
- Competent computer skills.
- Willingness to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, dry, and dusty conditions.
- Ability to climb and/or work in elevated areas; standing and sitting for extended periods.
- Position may involve repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs.
- The company will provide all PPE except steel toed boots. Standard PPE for agency workers is:
- Leather gloves.
- CSA approved safety glasses.
- Hearing protection.
- Hi-viz safety vest.
- Long sleeves (for any handling of our treated seed, packaged or unpackaged).
- CSA approved steel-toe boots (covers the ankle and has the green CSA triangle). Possibly available at south side Marks and/or Peavey Mart.
- Hard hat - hard hat to be hi-viz and have a Class E rating.
- The company will supply an orange hard hat to the agency worker, along with any other specialty PPE they require for a task.
