We are seeking a versatile Survey & CAD Technician to support our ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) construction projects in the Toronto area. This role combines field surveying and construction layout with office-based CAD/drafting work , ensuring accurate site measurements, layout, and as-built documentation. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to translate design plans into reality and maintain precision throughout construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Field / Surveying Tasks:
- Conduct construction staking, site layout, and control surveys
- Operate total stations, GPS, laser levels, and other survey equipment
- Perform survey calculations for elevations, coordinates, and offsets
- Verify locations and elevations of structures against design plans
- Collect data for as-built and topographic surveys
Office / CAD Tasks:
- Convert field survey data into accurate CAD drawings (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar)
- Prepare site plans, grading plans, and as-built documentation
- Maintain and update construction records and drawings
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure design compliance
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
- Strong experience in field surveying and CAD drafting
- Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, GPS, laser scanning) and CAD software
- Excellent math, measurement, and calculation skills
- Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively in an office environment
- Experience in ICI construction projects is a strong plus
