Responsibilities include:
- Install, configure, and maintain Leica Machine Control systems on Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Gomaco and other heavy equipment (dozers, excavators, graders, skid steers, etc.)
- Read, understand, and work with Leica wiring diagrams and system layouts
- Perform wiring and integration using CAN bus cables between machine systems and Leica components
- Diagnose and repair issues related to sensors, antennas, receivers, screens, and in-cab hardware
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on installed systems
- Support field crews, operators, and surveyors with machine control setup, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Maintain detailed records of installations, service work, equipment inventory, and machine configurations
- Collaborate with survey and operations teams to ensure accurate data transfer and system performance
- Contributing towards the success of major infrastructure developments through effective leadership and organizational skills.
- Organizing/Preparing administrative documents.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma from a Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant capacity with GIS systems.
- Must possess strong organization and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Problem solving skills and troubleshooting knowledge.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, AutoCAD.
- Hands-on experience with GPS/GNSS, machine control, and/or survey instrumentation (Leica experience is a strong asset).
- Strong understanding of CAN bus communication and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience working with heavy construction equipment.
- Strong problem-solving ability with a willingness to learn new systems and technology.
- The ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
- Knowledgeable about OH&S standards, and site safety practices.
- The ability to successfully apply a mix of technical expertise, team coordination skills, and attention to detail. These contributions will help deliver projects that meet expectations.
