Description
As a Fabrication & Startup Technician, you will be reporting to the Operations Manager and will support projects that span multiple disciplines within our organization in order to deliver high quality projects to our clients.
Your experience in the industry as well as your project and people skills will enable you to make an impact within our team and demonstrate strong delivery to our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in equipment layout, piping layout and developing isometrics.
- Assist in electrical fabrication using single-line drawings, and schematics.
- Assist in component procurement.
- Assemble all piping, valves, and instrumentation.
- Mount and fasten all project components.
- Fabricate/manufacture all ancillary mounting and support components.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings.
- Maintain warehouse project area in a clean and organized manner.
- Maintain orderly project over-runs area.
- Document daily production and work logs.
- Review all project changes with Project Coordinator.
- Adhere to project completion schedule.
- Schedule and coordinate other contractors during the assembly phase.
- Conduct final testing prior to shipping and document test results.
- Preparation of project skids for shipment (i.e. Protect and or crate, as required).
- Submit 'red lined' drawings for 'as-builts'.
- Installation, commissioning and start-up of the project.
- On-going service and troubleshooting of completed projects, as required.
- Liaison with other company engineering disciplines.
Position Qualifications:
- A comprehensive understanding of each project phase to successfully complete the project (i.e. to fabricate equipment and ship on time).
- Skid fabrication, instrumentation, piping, and electrical experience an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized and systematic with a strong aptitude for performing detailed tasks.
- Technical /trade school or equivalent experience required.
- 5 years’ experience in a related field.

Working Conditions
- Some heavy lifting as required.
- Short term travel (typically up to one week) to job sites is a condition of hire (Western Canada) and will occur on an as needed basis.
- Alcohol and drug testing is required on some sites and is a condition of hire.
- Drivers Abstract is required, and confirmation of insurability required.
- Technical /Trade School or Equivalent Experience Required.
- Police Criminal records check may be required.
