To address the demand and scale-up of manufacturing, WaveRyde is looking for a driven, result-oriented leader for manufacturing engineering to help establish the foundation for scaling manufacturing for its commercial and defense markets.
Job Description:
We are seeking a full-time leader for manufacturing engineering to join our team on-site in Waterloo, Canada. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the manufacturability, scalability, compliance, and reliability of WaveRyde’s solution that integrates electronics (FPGA & Analog/RF), optoelectronics (lasers, photodetectors), and optical components (fiber optics). The role requires hands-on experience with mid-volume (1,000s) systems manufacturing; collaboration with cross-functional teams consisting of R&D scientists and engineers, suppliers, contract manufacturers; and strategic partners.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) and scale-up efforts for enterprise-class products.
- Work closely with R&D and production teams to optimize electronics, optoelectronics, and optical systems for manufacturing.
- Develop and implement cost-reduction and reliability improvement strategies.
- Manage relationships with OEMs, ODMs, and manufacturing partners to streamline and scale production.
- Ensure compliance with industry and military standards (Mil-Std-Class desirable).
- Collaborate on supply chain management to optimize component sourcing and logistics.
- Work with R&D and production teams to lead, develop, and maintain quality control
Required qualifications:
- B.S. in Engineering (Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field).
- Direct experience with mid-volume (1,000s) manufacturing.
- Proven expertise in Design-for-Manufacturability for complex systems integrating electronics, optoelectronics, and optics.
- Ability to lead a small team and constructively work with R&D lead
Preferred:
- Proven experience in implementing Design-for-Reliability (DFR) principles.
- Proficient in MIL-STD-810 standards,
- Space qualification compliance and testing.
- Proven track record of implementing cost-reduction strategies in manufacturing.
- Extensive experience collaborating with manufacturing partners (OEM, ODM), and managing supply chains.
