Position: Mechanical Design Engineer
Position Summary
The Mechanical Design Engineer actively participates in specifying, designing, and integrating vehicle architecture and equipment functions on multiple platforms (mainly H125, H130, H135, H145, and H160). Responsibilities include designing new components and installations using metallic and composite materials, completing detailed design definitions with CATIA V5, and leading projects to support new opportunities, development, and improvements to existing aeronautical products.
Key Responsibilities
- Define system architecture and functional solutions per engineering requirements during offer phases to meet customer, airworthiness, and company standards.
- Design, integrate, and approve defined solutions.
- Define and review technical documents for system architecture verification.
- Establish and approve verification methods (analysis, tests), including programs for Function Hazardous Analysis, EMI/EMC, vibrations, thermal analysis, and deliver results to Airworthiness.
- Provide technical analysis of third-party STCs.
- Assess TC change impact on legacy products and open projects.
- Design, develop, and review technical documents and structural drawings for equipment integration and interfaces.
- Design layouts for aircraft modifications and configurations for completions and STC projects.
- Draft and 3D model installations, assemblies, and parts (sheet metal and composite design).
- Check wiring diagrams, wire routing, and aircraft structure interfaces (EMI/EMC, antenna location, maintainability).
- Review airframe design integrations for structural items (doors, windows, frames) and external load items (cameras, lighting, hoists, cargo hooks, floats).
- Review Installation Instructions and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness.
- Provide liaison support to internal and external customers for integration and conformity efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar.
- Master’s degree considered an asset.
- Professional Engineer’s License (or eligibility) considered an asset.
- 7 years of experience in vehicle architecture or structural design.
- Experience interfacing with specialists in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of vehicle architecture, system integration, electrical wiring diagrams, structural design constraints, aeronautical materials, helicopter performance, and verification methods.
- Familiarity with helicopter fuselage and airframe design.
- Structural load/stress analysis knowledge is an asset.
- Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 modeling and drafting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
