The Opportunity
Join GIP Construction Engineering Corp. (“GCE”) group as a Concrete Testing Technician based out of Caledon, Ontario but servicing specialized projects across the Central and Southern Ontario. Reporting to the Quality Manager or Field Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in field testing, inspection and sampling of concrete and associated materials.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Field inspection and testing of concrete.
- Field testing to include sampling and coring of concrete.
- Thermocouple temperature monitoring, installation and data collection.
- Assist in proper care, control and maintenance of the testing equipment.
- Follow all company and regulatory safety policies and procedures.
- Complete field inspection reports and pour summaries as per company policies and/or contract requirements and advise supervisors plus site staff of any non-conformances and deviations.
- Perform other duties as instructed.
Let’s talk about qualifications and requirements.
- Post-secondary education in a 2- or 3-year college program such as Civil / Construction Engineering or equivalent program is an asset but not required.
- CCIL or ACI concrete certification is preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years concrete testing experience on commercial, industrial or road building projects within Canada.
- Able to use and maintain hand and power tools.
- Must have a valid G (or equivalent) driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
- Able to perform heavy lifting >25kg.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to travel between projects.
- Must be able to perform shiftwork, including nights and weekends.
- Must be able to work long shifts and extended hours.
