Overview
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for leading Avion’s day-to-day operations, ensuring profitability, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment with corporate goals. Reporting directly to the President, the GM will oversee all production, engineering, quality, and administrative functions while driving growth, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a high-precision, customer-driven manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Translate the President’s vision and corporate strategy into actionable operational plans.
- Lead business development initiatives in coordination with the President to drive new opportunities and strengthen customer relationships.
- Ensure alignment of operational goals with company growth and profitability objectives.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations across machining, assembly, and quality control departments.
- Manage production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet OTD and cost targets.
- Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
Financial & Performance Management
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and KPIs.
- Track financial performance, productivity, and profitability.
- Recommend capital investments, process improvements, and cost-control measures.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop department managers and staff to build a high-performing team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
- Support employee training, succession planning, and retention initiatives.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to AS9100 and other industry quality standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Oversee documentation, audits, and customer quality requirements.
Customer & Supplier Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and suppliers.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication regarding production status, quality, and delivery.
- Support contract negotiation and strategic sourcing initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).
- Experience: 10+ years in a manufacturing leadership role, with at least 5 years in senior management.
- Proven success in aerospace or precision manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, quality systems (AS9100, ISO 9001), and production management.
- Demonstrated financial acumen and experience with P&L responsibility.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with ERP systems.
