We’re partnering with a reputable insurer looking to add an experienced Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter to their team. Responsibilities
- Manage a profitable portfolio of commercial accounts, balancing growth, retention, and underwriting discipline.
- Evaluate new business, renewals, and endorsements by analyzing risk quality, pricing adequacy, and coverage needs.
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships, acting as a trusted underwriting partner.
- Develop renewal strategies and negotiate terms to support both customer needs and business objectives.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for account rounding and targeted new business development.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure underwriting decisions are aligned with guidelines and authority levels.
- Collaborate with internal teams (claims, risk engineering, operations) to deliver strong customer outcomes.
- Participate in projects, portfolio reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to a positive team culture through knowledge-sharing and mentorship where appropriate.
What You Bring
- 3–5+ years of underwriting experience in Commercial Lines
- Strong judgment and analytical skills when assessing risk, pricing, and coverage structures.
- A track record of developing productive broker relationships and negotiating effectively.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Post-secondary education; CIP/CRM or progress toward insurance designations is an asset.
- Self-driven, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
