A well-established environmental consulting firm in the Lower Mainland is seeking a Project Engineer / Project Manager to join its Engineering Department. The Engineering team consists of a diverse group of professionals who work on a wide range of projects, including wastewater, stormwater, waste management, landfills, remediation technologies, and infrastructure for municipal, industrial, development, and transportation clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and/or manage remedial alternatives evaluations, treatment system upgrades, stormwater infrastructure work, landfill closure approaches, and construction oversight.
- Participate in design projects for remedial systems, in-situ chemical treatments, barrier walls, plant upgrades, landfill covers, and more.
- Travel to project sites to assess conditions, supervise contractors and staff, and perform field engineering reviews.
- Prepare or review monitoring reports, audits, technical reports, design briefs, specifications, tenders, and contract documents.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and staffing requirements.
- Apply sound engineering judgment and propose practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare and review work plans, designs, technical documentation, and specifications for operational and capital improvement projects.
- Administer and manage contracts.
- Work collaboratively with clients, regulators, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Lead project teams, promote collaboration, and support efficiency with guidance from senior engineers.
- Supervise junior engineers and technical staff when required, provide mentorship, and conduct peer reviews.
- Participate in preparing and approving engineering drawings and specifications within area of specialty.
- Perform additional related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in environmental or infrastructure engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia.
- Experience in environmental consulting or related industries.
- Strong understanding of environmental engineering principles, regulations, and technical guidelines.
- Proven ability to manage complex project components with accuracy, detail, and timeliness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus strong aptitude in engineering design and project management.
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage conflict and work under time-sensitive conditions.
- Ability to work independently under the guidance of senior engineers and exercise sound judgment in problem-solving.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects.
- Interest in training, mentoring, and supporting junior team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and MS Project.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
