Summary
Join The Courtney Room, a premier dining destination in Victoria, BC, known for refined cuisine, warm hospitality, and exceptional guest experiences. As Restaurant General Manager, you will lead all front-of-house operations, ensuring excellence in service, atmosphere, and team performance.
Working closely with the Executive Chef, Hotel General Manager, and local ownership, you will drive strategic planning, business reporting, and operational success. This role requires a hands-on leader who leads by example, is actively present on the restaurant floor during key service periods (including evenings and weekends), and serves as a mentor to the team, fostering professionalism, confidence, and pride in hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee daily restaurant operations to deliver seamless, high-quality guest experiences.
· Work with restaurant leadership team to lead, coach, and motivate front-of-house staff through an engaged and visible leadership approach.
· Maintains a strong presence on the restaurant floor during key meal periods, ensuring service excellence and supporting the team in real time.
· Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to ensure that service delivery in every way aligns with The Courtney Room’s standards.
· Partner with the Executive Chef, Hotel General Manager and local ownership on strategic planning, business reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.
· Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve profitability, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency, including oversight and reporting on labour costs, COGS (beverage) and expenses.
· Uphold high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance with all health and liquor regulations.
· Represent The Courtney Room and The Magnolia Hotel & Spa within the community, strengthening local partnerships and industry relationships.
· Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture built on mentorship, accountability, and continuous professional development.
· Is an active member of overall Magnolia Hotel & Spa Management team, and will be in constant communication with other operating departments and attend scheduled meetings as required.
· Work actively with sales and events personnel both in hotel and restaurant to ensure that communication and information on groups and events flows seamlessly into service delivery.
Requirements
· Minimum 3–5 years of management experience in an upscale or fine-dining environment.
· Proven record as a hands-on leader who leads by example, motivates teams through presence and action, and thrives in a guest-facing role.
· Strong business and financial acumen, with experience in P&L management, forecasting, and performance reporting.
· Exceptional guest-service orientation, communication skills, and attention to detail.
· Ability to work collaboratively with culinary, hotel, and ownership teams to achieve shared goals.
· Availability and commitment to working evenings, weekends, and peak service periods as a visible and engaged leader.
· Passion for mentorship, team building, and creating memorable guest experiences through authentic hospitality.
· Must have proven or obvious sales abilities. This position will be one of the faces of the restaurant internally and externally, and the desired candidate will be passionate about promoting our restaurant.
· Experience with restaurant event planning and execution of service during special events and buy outs.

· Competitive compensation and performance-based incentives. Salary will be negotiable based on experience, from $95,000 per annum. Incentive plan will be explained at interview process.
