Job Title: Forklift Operator
Contract Duration: 12 months with possible extension.
Pay Rate: $17.28/hr on t4
Location: Markham, Ontario, Canada, L6C 0M1
The Material Handler / Forklift Operator plays a key role in ensuring efficient material flow throughout the warehouse and production areas.
Responsibilities include receiving, storing, picking, kitting, packing, and delivering materials to support production schedules.
This role requires safe forklift operation (Reach Truck certification required), strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and continuously improving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform picking, packing, kitting, staging, and replenishment of materials and components.
• Support putaway of inbound freight to designated storage locations.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, bin audits, and physical inventory participation.
• Sort, organize, and label freight, pallets, and storage locations according to warehouse standards.
• Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) and proper material rotation practices.
• Use RF scanners and SAP for material transactions, tracking, and documentation.
• Assist in material discrepancy investigations and report shortages or damage promptly.
• Safely operate Reach Truck, pallet jack, and other powered material handling equipment (valid certification required).
• Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments from trucks or containers.
• Transport materials between warehouses, staging areas, and production lines.
• Deliver expense items, packaging materials, consumables, and components to production cell areas.
• Support multiple product lines with timely material delivery and removal of finished goods.
• Prepare and stage kits and job orders in alignment with production priorities.
• Assist in line returns and ensure all materials are returned to proper stock locations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization (5S) in all work areas.
• Follow and promote Lean practices, waste reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Wear all required PPE and ensure safety is always the top priority.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, quality standards, and EHS regulations.
• Report any unsafe conditions or equipment concerns immediately.
• Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and production staff.
• Communicate material shortages or delivery delays proactively.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Team Leader or Supervisor.
• Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable mindset in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
• Valid Reach Truck / Forklift Certification required.
• 1–3 years experience in warehouse, logistics, or material handling preferred.
• SAP experience or ability to learn inventory systems quickly.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs frequently and stand for extended periods.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality and safety.
