The Position
The Project Coordinator role within Electricity Canada’s Regulatory Team is an entry-level position that will primarily support a specific member project (from 2026 – 2028), to develop market and technical rules for implementing a comprehensive Distribution System Operator (DSO) model in Ontario and other interested jurisdictions. The selected candidate will report to the Manager of Economic Regulations & Standards (on a day-to-day basis), under the overall direction and guidance of the Vice-President, Regulatory and Indigenous Affairs. This is a three-year project, and the position is renewed on an annual basis in December, subject to meeting performance goals.
The Coordinator will support this project through several initiatives: (1) Establish and manage two national working groups on data standards and market rules; (2) Support working group deliberations related to the development of standardized data frameworks and market frameworks; (3) Help develop and disseminate project information, publications and related thought leadership through webinars, events and other sector engagements; and (4) Support the communication of project outcomes, lessons learned, and project insights to utilities, regulators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders across Canada. In addition, this position may require supporting other organizational projects at the Vice-President's direction.
Key Responsibilities
Committee Management:
- Establish relevant working groups, including governance structures (e.g. Terms of Reference)
- Support working group deliberations related to standardized data and market frameworks
- Organize face-to-face meetings and video calls in coordination with the committee leadership
- Develop and disseminate meeting/workshop agendas and other briefing materials
- Develop meeting minutes and actions to implement key decisions
- Facilitate speaking engagements for the committee leadership at other Electricity Canada events, including meetings, workshops, conferences and webinars
- Keep document management and member communication platforms up to date
- Collaborate with the Electricity Canada Events Team to support project-related meetings
Project Management:
- Develop and finalize the project activity schedule and timelines (2026 – 2028)
- Develop project stakeholder, communication and risk management plans
- Participate in project update meetings with project partners
- Develop monthly newsletters and disseminate project updates to internal and external audiences. This includes communication of project outcomes, lessons learned, and project insights to utilities, regulators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders across Canada
- Ensure all project-related products are aligned with the overall stakeholder strategy
- Support external outreach plans, including key performance indicator tracking and reporting
Policy Research, Thought Leadership, and Events:
- Monitor developments related to DSO implementation in Canada, Europe and the US
- Support the development of thought leadership content, reports, articles, PowerPoint presentations, and other briefing materials to highlight project milestones, lessons learned, and policy implications (minimum of 4)
- Conduct national webinars on Distributed Energy Resource (DER) integration, DSO operations and market impacts (minimum 3)
- Work with project partners and co-develop whitepapers (2) on data standards and market evolution
- Work with project partners to organize a sector-wide national workshop targeting utilities, policymakers, regulators, regulators and industry leaders. This would require the development of workshop sessions, coordination of speakers, and promotion (2027 -2028)
- Develop key workshop summary reports with recommendations
Qualifications
- University / College / Technical School Diploma and/or equivalent experience
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with demonstrated experience in leading projects and engaging stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Virtual Meeting Platforms
- Strong written and oral communicator
- Organized with the ability to work independently while ensuring accuracy and thoroughness
- No restrictions on lobbying under the Lobbying Act
- Fluent in English. French language competency is considered an asset
- Open to travel a few times a year
- Must be able to work in person at the Electricity Canada office for at least two days a week
The pay range for this position is $58,000 – $63,000 / annually.
