National Bank Capital Markets (NBCM) is seeking to hire an Analyst or Associate with a background in Engineering or Geology for the Acquisitions and Divestitures group in the Calgary office. As an Investment Banking Analyst or Associate (Engineering/Geology) in the Acquisitions & Divestitures group at National Bank Capital Markets, you play a lead role in supporting the team's deal execution and pitch activity. You will participate in a wide variety of transactions led by senior members of the team and deepen your knowledge of the investment banking industry and leverage previous industry technical experience.
The position in the A&D group at NBCM will appeal to highly motivated individuals that are interested in pursuing an investment banking career in an entrepreneurial and high-energy environment. We are seeking candidates who have prior investment banking experience coupled with a willingness to work exceptionally hard to exceed our client's expectations. Candidates should have excellent numerical and analytical abilities, strong technical acumen, advanced oral and written communication skills, well-developed computer skills, intellectual curiosity, knowledge in exploration and production and energy infrastructure as well as a positive, enthusiastic and co-operative attitude. Your Job - Actively participate in a wide variety of transactions led by senior members of the team, and manage various aspects of buy-side and sell-side mandates, such as Q&A and marketing materials
- Prepare materials & presentations for clients with respect to M&A mandates, the raising of capital from the public/private capital markets, pitching/marketing, and fairway overviews
- Complete technical due diligence, evaluation and review of oil & gas reserves
- Conduct company/industry research and analysis, including monitoring trends and identifying novel techniques
- Attend and participate in presentations with clients

The Investment Banking Group has demonstrated considerable momentum over the last few years, experiencing strong growth in deal flow.
Basic Requirements- Completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Geology or related field combined with an interest in finance and economics
- Two to six years of experience in upstream oil and gas, reserves evaluation, investment banking, equity research, capital markets and/or energy/infrastructure
- Outstanding numerical and analytical abilities, and strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships
- Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
- Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience with geoSCOUT, Value Navigator, and Mosaic are considered an asset
