Role Summary
The Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance and reliability of plant equipment and facilities to ensure efficient production operations. This includes leading maintenance staff, planning preventive maintenance programs, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
️ Maintenance Operations
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and oversee repairs of industrial machinery and equipment (e.g., packaging machines, conveyors, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics).
• Coordinate urgent breakdown responses to minimize downtime.
• Lead and assist with maintenance of building systems and production assets.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
• Develop, implement and refine a preventive maintenance program for all equipment and plant infrastructure.
• Use maintenance records to schedule preventive maintenance to improve uptime.
Team Leadership
• Supervise, mentor, and coordinate maintenance technicians/mechanics (assign tasks, evaluate performance, ensure training).
• Work with HR or departmental leads to maintain staffing levels and schedules.
Planning & Administration
• Plan and prioritize maintenance tasks based on production needs and safety requirements.
• Manage spare parts inventory, tools, and maintenance supplies.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, and safety teams.
Safety & Compliance
• Ensure all maintenance work adheres to safety regulations and company policies.
• Promote safe work practices and support health & safety initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to optimize maintenance processes and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Track maintenance performance indicators and report results to management.
Skills and Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Post-secondary diploma/degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Maintenance or related field or equivalent industry experience.
• Several years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; supervisory experience preferred.
Technical Skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude: ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Familiar with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and maintenance planning tools.
Other

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Knowledge of safety codes and regulatory compliance.
Work Conditions
• On-site in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• May require some after-hours on-call support for emergencies.
• Physical requirements include ability to inspect equipment, climb ladders, access machinery, and occasionally lift equipment.
