Anishnawbe GZhiitoonegamic (AGic), meaning Peoples Place of Building, is an indigenous women-led social enterprise located at 300 Archer Drive in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The enterprise offers a transformative solution to the housing crisis facing Indigenous and Northern communities. Emerging from the Keepers of the Circle and grounded in Indigenous values AGic provides low-carbon, energy-efficient modular homes that are not only affordable and climate-resilient but also culturally grounded and community-informed.
Summary of Position
The Quality Assurance and Safety Lead reports to the General Plant Manager and works primarily in a manufacturing and production environment. This role supports operations across production, manufacturing, and facilities, ensuring quality control, safety compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the modular housing build process. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing or construction-related environment.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position based on-site in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The starting salary will be determined based on experience, and the start date for this position will be discussed further during the interview process.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Quality Assurance, Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in quality assurance, safety, manufacturing, construction, or a related operational environment.
- Knowledge of quality control systems, inspection processes, and safety regulations.
- Experience implementing safety programs, policies, and training.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving workplace.
- Experience working in an Indigenous workplace and knowledge of Indigenous culture and communities is considered an asset.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and maintain quality control procedures for modular housing production.
- Develop and implement workplace safety programs, policies, and training initiatives.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits throughout the production process.
- Perform final verification and quality checks of completed panels and components.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, CSA building codes, and regulations.
- Identify quality or safety risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records, inspection reports, and safety documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and safety practices.
- Work collaboratively with production, management, and staff to promote a safe and high-quality work environment.
