The Opportunity:
We’re looking for an intern to join our treasury team for a 4-month opportunity. The treasury team supports Vancity by managing investments and other financial instruments that help Vancity maintain prudent liquidity and market risk positions arising from its business with members. This role will report to VP, Treasury, but will be assigned to different projects with respective project leads.
A typical day would involve:
- Investments - Supporting Treasury portfolio manager in daily investment activities and trade complete, bank counterparty relationship documentation management
- Treasury markets trading - Working alongside traders in Treasury and assist in transaction support
- Treasury administration – Supporting a project to centralize bank counterparty contracts, various treasury dealer contracts into Sharepoint, and other related work
- Project work - statistical modeling and applying regression analysis in a banking environment
- Additional Reporting and treasury data management - Database and reporting support on treasury risk reports and automating treasury processes using Microsoft tools

- Curious & innovative - You always do your research and analyze it to assess and recommend a course of action considering industry best practices
- A team player - you can engage with members of your team as well as cross-functional teams and are willing to collaborate across projects and initiatives.
You have:
- Current enrollment or recent graduation from an undergraduate program within an applicable field and eligible for co-op/internship opportunities
- An interest in corporate finance and financial markets
- A willingness to work in a highly flexible environment with multiple competing priorities.
- A high level of attention to detail
Bonus points, if you have:
- Microsoft office experience – Teams, Sharepoint, Excel, Powerpoint
- Financial, Statistical, and/or economic modeling experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communications
- Treasury management knowledge and experience: experience preparing reporting and analysis related to interest rate risk, banking industry balance sheet metrics, including data preparation and data quality checks.
What You’ll Earn:
This role offers a pay range of $27.85/hr.
