About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established global engineering and equipment manufacturer with more than 140 years of industry experience and operations across 12 countries.
The Chatham-Kent manufacturing facility is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who can bridge the gap between engineering and production. This role is ideal for someone who has worked directly with CNC machines, understands machining processes, and enjoys improving manufacturing operations on the shop floor.
The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing machining processes, programming equipment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
The Role
This position is a highly hands-on engineering role focused on improving machining processes, supporting CNC programming, and driving operational efficiencies.
You will work closely with production teams, maintenance, and engineering to improve manufacturing performance, troubleshoot machining challenges, and implement process improvements.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being on the shop floor, working directly with equipment, and wearing multiple hats within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement improvements to manufacturing processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction
- Support CNC machining operations, including programming, process optimization, and troubleshooting
- Work with CNC lathes and vertical lathes, ensuring programs and setups meet production and quality standards
- Utilize and modify Fanuc CNC programs to improve machining performance
- Assist with drawing interpretation and programming of equipment
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and manufacturing efficiencies
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges
- Recommend and support new equipment, machine controllers, and technology upgrades
- Support operator training and best practices for machining operations
- Maintain documentation for machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
(Certified Engineering Technologist – CET – will also be considered)
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes
- Experience working with CNC lathes, vertical lathes, or similar machining equipment
- Knowledge of Fanuc CNC programming
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and machining specifications
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work directly on the shop floor with production teams
