George Spady Society provides a continuum of support services supporting people with complex life circumstances associated with substance-related and concurrent disorders and homelessness, empowering them to improve their lives through client-centered, evidence-based best practices.
The Recovery Follow-Up Support Worker (RFSW) engages with a designated caseload of clients navigating challenges to both their recovery journey and housing stability. Through the development of partnership agreements, they assess and reassess the client’s internal and external recovery capital and identify actionable items that support their long-term recovery goals and housing stability. Working collaboratively with the province’s recovery-orientated systems of care, they support community referrals as needed. Together the (RFSW) and client, will identify any barriers and develop strategies to overcome them, thus conserving emergency resources and nurturing sustainable recovery and housing.
Moreover, the Recovery Follow-Up Support Worker will:
•Provide ongoing client assessments, skills development and navigation to community supports
•Maintain landlord relationships and assist with tenant mediation
•Co-design, co-implement and co-evaluate partnership agreements with clients and mitigate crisis
•Interact with clients in a caring, non-judgmental manner
•Monitor clients on a weekly basis and communicate concerns and recommendations to Manager
•Record client information in ETO and update daily
•Attend training as necessary
•Adhere to the principals of Recovery Orientated Systems of Care as described in the Recovery Treatment Team Program Procedure Manual
•Attend general staff meetings
•Any other related task or responsibility assigned by the Manager
Position Qualifications
•Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Recovery, addictions, mental health, and marginalized populations.
•Demonstrated level of literacy and communication skills sufficient for job responsibilities
•An open, accepting, and non-judgmental attitude with an ability to build rapport with clients and landlords
•Valid First Aid with CPR certification
•Current Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check
•Reliable transportation with 2 million vehicle liability insurance
•Knowledge of Edmonton’s housing market is considered an asset
•Basic understanding of the Landlord and Tenancy Act
•Diploma or degree in a human services field and 1 to 2 years’ experience working with a marginalized population
Hours of work: Permanent Full Time Day Shift Work, 7.5 Hours, Monday to Friday. (2 Positions Available)
