SOUTHLAND is currently offering a $2,000 hiring bonus for Journeyperson Mechanics. Receive half after 1 month and the remainder following 3 months of employment! Relocation assistance is also available for out-of-town candidates.
Reporting to the Shop Foreman, you will work in a fast-paced environment maintaining a fleet of school buses. SOUTHLAND offers a state-of-the-art environment with an emphasis on safety and training. To qualify for this position, you must be a reliable self-starter with strong interpersonal skills.
Currently hiring for both day (8:30 am - 5:00 pm) and night (3:30 pm - 12:00 am) shifts.
Wage: $42.00 per hour
Position Requirements:
- Journeyperson certification
- Valid driver’s license; class 2 license considered an asset
- Pre-employment drug testing
- Clear criminal record
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Own hand tools
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Gasoline and propane-powered equipment experience an asset
- Computer skills
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ongoing maintenance/repair of school buses
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
- Respond to breakdowns
- Spring and winter maintenance
- Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
